The best time to visit Romania is from May to mid-October, whether you want to hike through our mysterious woodland trails or discover our cultural heritage and history. The weather is mostly nice and warm, although a bit hot during July and August with some chances or rain or stormy skies. We also recommend considering April for cultural exploration.
Where to go in Romania?
Romania has many sights to see and enjoy! The ones that should not be missed are Bucovina & Maramures, Transylvania, and the Danube Delta. Bucovina is known for its medieval monasteries (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), where you can find your inner peace but also discover many beautiful natural sights. Maramures is another famous region, due to its magnificent wooden churches, houses and carved gates, full of legends and symbols. Here you will learn the true meaning of tradition while enjoying breath-taking landscapes. Transylvania is where history comes to life: centuries-old fortified churches, citadels and Saxon houses will amaze you with their stories and architecture. Last but not least, the Danube Delta and Piatra Craiului National Park are the places where one can fuse with nature and discover the varied flora and fauna Romania has to offer. We guarantee your trip will be an unforgettable experience no matter your plans.
How many days does someone need to visit?
In order to get a real, complete feel of what Romania is like, we recommend at least three weeks. However, depending on what you chose to do, you can also plan a great trip for one week where you can narrow your sights on a few key highlights.
Avid walkers celebrate: this village-to-village walking tour was designed just for you. Hike through national parks, great forests, and the exceptional landscapes of the Bucegi Mountains. Visit traditional villages. And take in the dark, eerie history of Bran Castle - also known as Dracula's Castle.
This complete self-drive tour covers the highlights of Romania's Transylvania region and features attractions made famous by Bram Stoker's, Dracula. You will visit historic fortresses and medieval castles, linked to Vlad III Dracul, "the Impaler," himself, as well as explore medieval Saxon towns and cities. Discover the myth and legend of Count Dracula on this nine-day itinerary.
Step back in time and immerse yourself in bygone rural traditions on this 9-day tour of the Bucovina and Maramures villages. These two regions of Romania have carefully preserved their proud heritage, which you'll experience through plenty of cultural activities. You'll discover brightly painted monasteries, intricate woodwork, and fascinating multi-ethnic customs as you explore this pretty part of the world.
Explore high mountains and medieval citadels on this 8-day itinerary. Discover Transylvania's rocky past and tour the Saxon citadels, a UNESCO heritage site. Visit eclectic Sibiu, Europe's 2007 Capital of Culture, stay overnight in pastoral mountain villages, and don't forget your camera for a visit to Romania's legendary Dracula's Castle.

Florin was great. We went on a 9 day tour. Bucharest, Brasov, Sibiu, Sighisoara, Gura Humorului, Sighetu Marmatiei and Cluj. Saw amazing castles and 14/15th century churches. Florin also had a few surprises…we took a cable car up the mountain as it snowed, went in an ice house, stopped at a family owned pottery shop and had an amazing lunch. All the hotels were great and the dinners were delicious. Florin is very knowledgeable in Romanian history…we learned a lot. When we had an unexpected... read more

We will like to thank our guide Florin for making this trip a fantastic experience. His knowledge, patience, experience, good humor, complacency , punctuality were few of his assets. Everything he planned for us was amazing: Peles Castle, Bran Castle, Brasov City, Curtea de Arges Monastery, the Turda Salt Mine, the wooden churches, the happy cementery, the painted egg museum, Constata and the black sea, Nessebar and the beautiful city of Sofia.
We also appreciate the guide and company of... read more
